Portree Wins Best in Class Fiano & More

Portree Cellars came out on top in this year’s San Francisco Chronicle wine competition. Portree submitted five wines, all of which won awards. Portree’s Fiano won best in class for the varietal, with Mike Dunne’s tasting notes calling it a “powerful and layered white wine, all orange peel and apple slice.” Portree’s Tempranillo won double gold, while the Mourvèdre, Aglianico, and Marsanne won two gold and one silver respectively.

The annual competition releases results in January, with over one thousand wineries submitting approximately six thousand entries. Competition is stiff, with wineries from all over the US participating (including wineries in Napa and the Willamette Valley). Coming in hot for a first time entrant, Portree aims to be a contender in future competitions.
